Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Registration with the NCRCB as an RCA required.
• Enrolled student in good standing of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program required.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
• Ability to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co‑workers, patients, and hospital guests.
• Physical requirements include ability to communicate orally, manual dexterity, visual acuity, standing/walking, positioning/moving patients, and pushing heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains adequate amounts of supplies needed for the department.
• Picks up dirty equipment and processes them to maintain an adequate supply of clean, ready-to-use equipment.
• Performs testing of Cidex and/or other solutions utilized by the department.
• Administers continuous oxygen and continuous bland aerosol therapy per department guidelines.
• Does not participate in invasive procedures or critical care (mechanical ventilation).
• Instruct patients in the use of Incentive Spirometry.
• Performs CPT per department guidelines.
• Charges for all services provided including BCX system usage.
• Performs arterial punctures.
• Other duties as assigned.
