Job summary

Elgin Community College is seeking an adjunct teaching faculty member in Respiratory Therapy. The role involves delivering courses, labs, and clinical instruction aligned with the college's goals, and evaluating student progress to support educational outcomes.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy, a valid RRT credential and Illinois license, plus four years of RRT experience (two in clinical care) and two years of teaching in accredited programs.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two years in clinical respiratory care
• Two years of experience teaching either as an appointed faculty in a CoARC accredited respiratory care program, or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Instruction: conduct classes, labs and/or clinicals
• Prepare labs and provide course syllabus with grading and attendance policies
• Verify student enrollment and submit grade sheets
• If a lab is involved: prepare labs and enforce lab safety procedures
• Evaluate student progress with timely feedback
• Provide student assistance: maintain office hours and communication, refer students to support services, accommodate special needs students

Work Schedule:

Hours vary and may include day, evening and weekend responsibilities. Courses are taught in a classroom setting and may include a lab component. Please indicate your availability in your cover letter.

Rate of Pay:

This is a Part-Time Adjunct Faculty position with the following pay rate per contact hour:

Less than MA: $1,098 MA or Above: $1,140

The offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.
