Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to manage cardio‑respiratory patient care and to develop individualized plans. The role includes administering treatments, operating ventilators, and teaching patients and families about disease and wellness.

Graduate from an AMA approved Respiratory Care program with an associate degree, NBRC eligibility, and NJ licensure are required. BLS and ongoing education support provided.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved program of study in Respiratory Care with an Associate’s Degree.
• Registered or Registry Eligible as a Respiratory Therapist per NBRC.
• BLS credential and NJ license as Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop respiratory care plans.
• Administer treatments/medications as prescribed.
• Demonstrate competency in invasive and non‑invasive ventilator care.
• Demonstrate competency in Blood Gas Laboratory procedures.

Job description

Summary

Responsible for the treatment, care, and management of patients with deficiencies and/or abnormalities of the cardio‑respiratory system. Acts as clinical resource in all areas of patient care and, further, contributes to the overall quality of patient care.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs assessment of patients and develops their respiratory plan of care.
• Administers treatments/medications as prescribed by the physician.
• Demonstrates competency in all aspects of invasive and non‑invasive ventilator care.
• Demonstrates competency in all aspects of the Blood Gas Laboratory.
• Teaches and reinforces education on disease process, treatment, and wellness to patient and/or family and the community at large.
• Set‑up, operate, and maintain medical gas and airway humidification systems.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to interact/interface with varying computer information management systems in order to document patient care related activities.

NOTE: Consistent accuracy of above workload distribution highly variable as described. Position Responsibilities must include adaptability to meet the daily conditions of service demand.

Required Education

Graduate of an AMA approved program of study in Respiratory Care with an Associate’s Degree.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Registered or Registry Eligible as a Respiratory Therapist as determined by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

BLS credential.

Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care.

Salary

$50.25 - $50.25 Hourly
