Salary: $55,000-$60,000

Position Overview
The Resource Specialist is responsible for providing academic and vocational assessments, teaching basic academic subjects to students requiring remedial work, using special help programs to improve scholastic level.
Role and Responsibilities
- Delivers instruction of core and elective subjects, applying lesson techniques designed for remedial students as required by Florida Sunshine Standards.
- Administers measurement tool during intake, ongoing and at transition to assess progress of girls.
- Utilizes classroom management techniques that foster a gender responsive environment.
- Administers the required standardized State or Pace testing.
- Participates in parent conferences as needed; prepares and participates in care review meetings.
- Recommends improvement that will enhance the overall academic delivery to students.
- Supports care management issues and provides progress update for individualized treatment plans.
- Adheres to established budget guidelines; manages existing resources wisely, including cleaning supplies, equipment purchases, and contractual arrangements.
- In coordination with school board staff and Pace teams, develops individualized transition and placement plans ensuring appropriate placement after transition.
- Coordinates, supervises, and evaluates tutors, academic interns, and other support services.
- Plans and supervise extracurricular activities.
- Conducts all required entry/exit testing and record in Pace Impacts.
- Provide tutoring and academic support for struggling students.
- Assists in proctoring state standardized assessment (FSA).
- Provides classroom coverage in absence of teachers.
- Provides support and reinforcement for teachers and lessons.
- Gives one on one or small group instruction and lesson review.
- Helps teachers with material and lesson plan set up, attendance, grading, and other administrative tasks.
- Registers students for all GED assessments and supervises GED administration, test security procedures and make-up administration procedures.
- Monitors and reviews data related to student academic progress, sends out weekly updates to management and provides intervention as needed.
- Leads FTE reporting under supervision of Academic Manager.
- Conducts schedules, promotions, and graduation checks at end of semester/quarterly.
- Processes and requests new student records, including requesting transcripts/records from other schools and entering data into districts MIS (FOCUS).
- Provides student accommodations including organization, online school registration and etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree from four-year College or University.
- Florida State Teacher certification or eligibility for certification.
- Minimum experience using personal computers and basic office equipment.
Preferred
- Minimum two years’ experience in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of case management practices.
- Knowledge of state and school districts policies preferred; knowledge of laws relating to children and families.
