Job summary

Commonwealth Community Development Academy in Michigan is seeking a Resource Room Teacher to support students with learning disabilities through individualized instruction and IEP-driven planning.

You will develop and implement IEPs, provide one-on-one and small-group support, and collaborate with regular education and special education staff to ensure an inclusive, responsive classroom. A satisfactory criminal background check is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field; Masters preferred.
• Michigan teaching certificate with one of the following endorsements: SA, SC, SE, SM.
• Experience with students with learning disabilities and familiarity with IEPs and SPED laws.

Responsibilities

• Assess student progress and modify instruction as needed.

• Provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and growth.
• Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field; Masters preferred
• State of Michigan teacher certificate with one of the following endorsements: SA, SC, SE, SM
• Experience working with students in a variety of learning disabilities
• Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education (SPED) laws
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

SKILLS:

• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff
• Experience in behavior management and intervention strategies
• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in special education
• Advanced training in specific learning disabilities or disorders
• Knowledge of assistive technology tools and resources
• Ability to effectively differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and abilities.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
