Job summary

Anova Education seeks a Resource Room Teacher to support students within the Galesburg-Augusta Middle School setting. You will provide targeted instruction aligned to the IEP in core subjects and social skills, collaborating with general and special education colleagues to meet individual needs.

You will help develop and document IEPs, maintain a positive classroom culture with behavior supports, and handle related duties as assigned. Michigan Special Education Certification is required.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching students with disabilities to progress in the general curriculum.
• Classroom management systems and positive behavior supports experience.
• Knowledge of middle school and elementary learner needs.
• Understanding of CC, GLCEs and eGLCEs.
• Solid math instruction foundation and literacy instruction.
• Familiarity with progress monitoring and formative assessments.
• Experience with differentiated instruction and co-teaching is preferred.

POSITION: RESOURCE ROOM TEACHER

LOCATION: Galesburg-Augusta Middle School

START DATE: August 2026

CERTIFICATION: Valid Michigan Special Education Certification in at least one area of disability (CI, EI, LD, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Skills/experience teaching students with disabilities to progress in the general education curriculum.
• Skills/experience in setting up effective classroom management systems.
• Experience with and knowledge of the middle school and elementary learner.
• Knowledge of and experience teaching to the Common Core Curriculum, Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs) and Extended Grade Level Content Expectations (eGLCEs)
• Solid foundation in mathematics instruction.
• Solid foundation in pre-literacy and literacy skills instruction.
• Understanding of assessment methods including: progress monitoring, curriculum-based measurement, and formative assessment.
• Experience in differentiated instruction and co-teaching, preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide instruction in the core curriculum areas and social skills per the IEP.
• Work cooperatively with general education and other special education staff to provide successful programming to meet individual needs.
• Complete, document, and facilitate IEPs consistent with district, state, and federal laws and guidelines.
• Establish and maintain a positive classroom culture through use of positive behavior supports and classroom management
• Other duties as assigned by administration

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Ability to teach socially acceptable behavior employing techniques such as positive behavior intervention supports, replacement behaviors, and restorative practices.
• Ability to utilize a social emotional learning curriculum.
• Experience with the development of functional behavior assessments and implementation of positive behavior support plans
• Knowledge and use of de-escalation techniques.

SALARY:

As per GAEA Collective Bargaining Agreement
