Job summary

Family of Kidz is seeking a Special Educator for Resource Room support in the North Shore area. The role involves direct instruction aligned with IEP goals, and collaboration with teachers and families to support student progress.

Responsibilities include data collection, progress reporting, and adapting lessons for diverse learners. Certification in NYS SWD and experience with IEPs are preferred; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Certified special educator with SWD credentials or equivalent.
• Experience aligning instruction with IEP goals and progress reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs.
• Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to support diverse learners
• Review, understand, and implement each student’s IEP mandates.
• Collect ongoing progress data and prepare quarterly progress reports.
• Maintain accurate session notes and submit documentation within required timelines.
• Communicate regularly with general education teachers regarding student needs, accommodations, and classroom strategies.
• Participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed.
• Maintain professional communication with families, school administrators, and related service providers.
• Create a structured, supportive learning environment.
• Implement positive behavior support strategies and classroom routines.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.

Education

NYS Students with Disabilities Certification K-6, 7-12 ( NYS SWD All Grades or Permanent Preferred)
