Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department.

You will provide direct patient care, coordinate with physicians and staff, and participate in sepsis, STEMI, stroke, trauma alerts and Code Blues while mentoring junior nurses.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of West Virginia
• Associate degree in nursing required; BSN preferred
• Current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS required; TNCC and NRP within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and nursing staff
• Mentor and support junior nurses and other team members
• Respond to sepsis alerts, STEMI alerts, strokes, trauma activations and Code Blues
• Assist with high-risk, low-volume procedures as needed
• Support patients and families and ensure safe transfers to higher levels of care

Our Emergency Department is a rural, 20-bed unit focused on delivering patient‑centered care in a supportive and friendly environment. How you'll contribute

• Assures optimum quality patient care by serving as a resource person for other staff members, patient and family.
• Continuing professional and personal development, coordinating patient care with other departments and assisting the physician.
• Advanced assessment skills.
• Intervenes with appropriate action after needs are identified.
• Assists with direct patient care until patient is transferred to appropriate level of care, or if hemodynamically stable.
• Facilitates transfer to a higher level of care when indicated.
• Provides support to staff, patient and patient's family.
• Attends all Sepsis alerts, STEMI alerts, Stroke alerts, Trauma activations, and Code Blues.
• Mentor to nursing staff.
• Assist with low‑volume, high‑risk procedures.
• Demonstrates professional and personal development.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. A bachelor's degree is preferred and additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification that is current
• ACLS and PALS are required
• Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum (TNCC)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - within 6 months of hire

3 years experience in a critical care setting (ICU or ED).
