Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior leader to manage a technical team focused on geothermal exploration and development, field expansions, and asset optimization in the Reno, NV area.

The role requires a Master of Science or Engineering in a relevant subject, with a Doctorate being advantageous, and at least 10 years of related experience. Strong PMI-based project management experience (CAPM/PMP) is preferred.

  • Oversee the geophysics, prospecting, and GIS programs as well as the support functions for the exploration department.
  • Conduct project reviews and ensure technical work is world‑class.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets with appropriate software.
  • Present or publish at professional conferences as needed.
  • Maintain an effective training program for team including external and internal training.
Requirements
  • Must possess Master of Science or Engineering in a relevant subject
  • A Doctorate degree in a relevant subject is advantageous
  • A major in either Geology or Geophysics is preferred
  • At least 10 years’ experience in related work is required
  • Experience in Project Management is preferred
  • Experience under the PMI project management framework is preferred, ideally holding either CAPM or PMP qualification
  • Previous experience managing a resource‑extraction team is preferred with a priority for exploration
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and team‑building skills are required
  • Highly skilled communicator and high degree of emotional intelligence
  • Consistently proactive with a high level of initiative to independently determine work objectives for self and team
  • Strong organization and time‑management skills, with preference towards qualifications in Project Management
  • Ability to perform economic calculations that factor in risk and uncertainty
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a level for accurate understanding and to efficiently perform job duties
  • Proficiency in a variety of appropriate software applications to perform job duties such as spreadsheets, databases, Microsoft Office including Project, Visio, and Excel
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English is advantageous
