Role Overview:

In this role, you will support campus safety by performing assigned duties. The Public Safety Dispatcher Assistant answers routine non-emergency calls and works under supervision. Responsibilities include:

  • Answer inbound non-emergency calls promptly.
  • Operate Computer Aided Dispatch system, maintain records, conduct searches, and prepare reports.
  • Listen carefully, take appropriate actions, and collaborate with team members.
  • Follow communication scripts, multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Maintain a service-oriented demeanor with co-workers, the university community, the public, and other agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Please note: This is a part-time role, up to 20 hours per week, not exceeding 1,000 hours in a 12-month period.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6-12 months of experience
  • Valid driver's license for 2 years

Preferred Requirements:

  • Related undergraduate study or experience in switchboard or radio communications
  • Knowledge of two-way radio procedures
  • Understanding of campus geography
  • Experience in dispatch or high-volume call centers
  • Ability to use phonetic alphabet, communicate clearly, follow instructions, and learn dispatch systems
  • Excellent communication skills

Hourly Range: $21.00 per hour. Compensation considers experience, education, skills, and other factors. Valid CA driver's license required; DMV record check applies.

Additional Details: Entry level, full-time, in the Higher Education industry. Position involves participating in DMV Pull Notice System.
