Job summary

South Yakima Conservation District (SYCD) in Zillah, WA, seeks a Resource Conservation Planner or Technician to provide one-on-one technical assistance to private landowners. You will work with SYCD staff and partners to implement BMPs, assist with farm/conservation planning, and deliver education and outreach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree minimum requirement.
  • Background in natural resource sciences or related fields.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have WA driver's license.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish helpful but not required.
  • Proficient with basic computer tools (Word/Excel) and mapping tools (Geo/SIG).

Responsibilities

  • Promote SYCD programs and align with district plans and RCW 89.08.
  • Train to become Certified Conservation Planner (Level 3).
  • Develop and write conservation plans (nutrient, irrigation, farm, habitat).
  • Support cost-share programs and outreach to landowners and partners.
  • Lead field activities (soil sampling, planting, monitoring).
  • Organize education/outreach events for landowners and community.
  • Attend Board meetings and report progress.
