Brooklyn STEM Academy is seeking a Special Education Aide to support teachers and students in a dynamic classroom in Brooklyn. The role focuses on reinforcing learning concepts, assisting with instruction, supervising transitions, and maintaining a supportive learning environment.

Job Summary and Requirements:

Support classroom teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and effective learning environment for students. This role involves working directly with students to reinforce learning concepts, assist with classroom management, support individual and group instruction, supervise students during transitions, and perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator. The position requires the ability to remain emotionally stable, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professional composure in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities and responding appropriately to student needs and unexpected situations. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; move throughout the classroom and school; and lift and carry materials or equipment weighing 20 pounds or more as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, basic computer or communication skills (if relevant), ability to work with students, experience in schools or similar settings.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly rate is based on experience and certification at a range from $14.75-$20.25.
