Job summary

Horseshoe Bay Resort in Texas seeks a Pool Attendant to oversee daily pool operations, water testing, chemical balancing, and safety across resort facilities. You will perform routine maintenance, monitor equipment, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards for guests and associates.

The role requires independent work, attention to detail, and flexibility for weekends and holidays. Prior pool maintenance knowledge and a willingness to obtain CPO certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Test and maintain water chemistry levels in all pools, spas, hot tubs, and aquatic facilities in accordance with local, state, and company standards.
  • Monitor and adjust chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and other water quality levels as required.
  • Ensure proper water clarity, circulation, filtration, and sanitation standards are consistently maintained.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily water testing, chemical usage, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Safely store, handle, and apply pool chemicals according to safety guidelines and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Monitor water levels and refill facilities as necessary.
  • Vacuum pools and spas on a scheduled basis.
  • Backwash filters and maintain filtration systems according to operational requirements.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on pumps, motors, filters, valves, heaters, chemical feeders, and automated control systems.
  • Clean skimmer baskets, strainers, drains, and associated pool equipment.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with Engineering leadership.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance and lifespan.
  • Monitor and maintain pool decks, walkways, handrails, ladders, drains, and surrounding aquatic areas.
  • Maintain daily pool and spa operation logs.
  • Read, record, monitor, and interpret data from gauges, meters, chemical controllers, and other monitoring devices.
  • Complete work orders and preventative maintenance records accurately and promptly.
  • Track inventory levels of chemicals, equipment, and maintenance supplies.

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Director of Engineering

Position Summary

The Pool Attendant is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of all resort aquatic facilities, including swimming pools, hot tubs, spas, water features, and associated mechanical equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring all aquatic venues meet health, safety, and operational standards while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for guests, members, and associates.

The Pool Attendant performs routine water testing, chemical balancing, equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and documentation of all pool-related systems. This role requires the ability to work independently, identify operational issues, respond to emergencies, and maintain multiple aquatic facilities throughout the resort.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Pool Operations & Water Quality

  • Test and maintain water chemistry levels in all pools, spas, hot tubs, and aquatic facilities in accordance with local, state, and company standards.
  • Monitor and adjust chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and other water quality levels as required.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, health department, environmental, and company safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify safety hazards, equipment deficiencies, and potential risks.
  • Maintain proper signage, barriers, and safety equipment in pool and spa areas.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies involving aquatic facilities.
  • Assist with monitoring fire alarm and life safety systems as assigned.
  • Report accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions, and maintenance concerns immediately.

Resort Aquatic Facilities

Maintain and support all resort aquatic venues, including but not limited to:

  • Waterfront Floating Pool
  • Tower Pool
  • Paseo Fitness Center Pool
  • Bayside Spa Pool and Hot Tub
  • Additional resort pools, hot tubs, water features, and related facilities

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily pool and spa operation logs.
  • Read, record, monitor, and interpret data from gauges, meters, chemical controllers, and other monitoring devices.
  • Complete work orders and preventative maintenance records accurately and promptly.
  • Track inventory levels of chemicals, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
  • Communicate operational updates and maintenance concerns to supervisors and fellow team members.

General Duties

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Ensure all tools, keys, chemicals, and equipment are properly secured and stored.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to guests, members, and associates.
  • Support resort operations during peak seasons, special events, and emergencies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required

  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and direct sunlight.
  • Ability to safely handle pool chemicals and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to frequently navigate stairs, ladders, mechanical rooms, and aquatic facility areas.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and operational needs.
