Job summary

Avista Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC seeks a Resort Manager to run daily operations, lead department heads, and drive exceptional guest experiences. You will ensure service standards, safety, and profitability while shaping a culture of accountability and teamwork across the property.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership, strong financial discipline, and a passion for hospitality. This role requires weekend and holiday coverage and a visible leadership presence throughout the resort.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Significant hotel, resort, hospitality, or property management experience.
  • Proven management and leadership experience, preferably overseeing multiple departments.
  • Strong financial and operational understanding.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, coach, and hold teams accountable.
  • Exceptional customer service and guest recovery skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify priorities, and take decisive action.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the overall daily operation of the resort.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and accountability to department heads and resort teams.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for guest service, cleanliness, safety, professionalism, and operational performance.
  • Ensure the guest experience is consistent from arrival through departure and across every department.
  • Respond to and resolve escalated guest concerns and service recovery situations.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of operational and guest issues.

Resort Manager – Avista Resort
Position Overview

The ResortManager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of Avista Resort,ensuring that the property delivers an exceptional guest experience whilemeeting operational, financial, service, and organizational objectives. Thisposition provides leadership and direction to department heads and employeesacross the resort and is responsible for creating a culture of accountability,teamwork, hospitality, and operational excellence.

The idealcandidate is a hands-on, highly organized leader who understands that asuccessful resort requires strong people, consistent standards, effectivecommunication, financial discipline, and a relentless focus on the guestexperience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead andoversee the overall daily operation of the resort.
  • Providedirection, coaching, and accountability to department heads and resortteams.
  • Establishand maintain high standards for guest service, cleanliness, safety, professionalism, and operational performance.
  • Ensure theguest experience is consistent from arrival through departure and acrossevery department.
  • Respond toand resolve escalated guest concerns and service recovery situations.
  • Work closelywith all departments to ensure effective communication and timelyresolution of operational and guest issues.
  • Monitorresort performance, staffing, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Overseescheduling, hiring, training, development, and performance management inpartnership with department leaders.
  • Reviewfinancial performance, labor, expenses, budgets, and operational controls to ensure the resort meets established objectives.
  • Holddepartment heads accountable for departmental performance, standards,staffing, and results.
  • Conductregular leadership and operational meetings and ensure follow-through onpriorities and action items.
  • Identifyoperational problems and implement solutions that improve efficiency,profitability, and guest satisfaction.
  • Monitorguest feedback, identify trends, and develop strategies to addressrecurring concerns.
  • Ensureresort policies, procedures, safety standards, and emergency protocols areconsistently followed.
  • Work closelywith Sales and other leadership teams to support occupancy, revenue, groupbusiness, and overall resort performance.
  • Maintainstrong relationships with owners, vendors, employees, guests, and otherkey stakeholders.
  • Lead byexample and maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the resort.
  • Supportspecial projects and initiatives as directed by senior management.
Qualifications & Skill Set

Leadership Expectations

The ResortManager is expected to be a visible and engaged leader who does not simplymanage from an office. The successful candidate understands what is happeningthroughout the property, knows the challenges facing each department,communicates clearly, follows through on commitments, and creates anenvironment where employees understand what is expected of them and takeownership of their results.

Most importantly, the Resort Manager is responsible forensuring that every department understands that it plays a role in creating the Avista guest experience.
