Job summary

TO Plastics is seeking a 2nd shift material handler to operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, labeling, weighing, grinding, packaging, and maintaining scrap inventory. This role requires forklift certification and basic math/English skills.

The position runs Monday through Thursday, 2:45pm–12:45am with a shift differential; candidates must follow safety procedures and can grow within the plant through hands-on training and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Pass forklift certification and operate forklift safely.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office and multiple formats.
• Ability to read/write/speak/basic English for directions and safety.
• Professional verbal and written communication.
• Detail oriented with both team and independent work skills.
• Strong organization, time management, multitasking, problem solving.
• Read weight measurements and dimension measurements accurately.
• Basic math skills: counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
• Ability to read an amp meter and distinguish materials with visual acuity.

Essential Functions:

This position is responsible for the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities:

• Properly label and segregate different materials.
• Grind material at an acceptable rate per hour.
• Package boxes, skids, and warehouses material.
• Properly weigh and label ground material.
• Complete paperwork with minimal errors and maintains accurate records.
• Maintain inventory and organization of scrap materials.
• Identifies basic quality issues.
• Adheres to all Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Able to operate with some assistance.
• Operate a forklift safely in a fast-paced environment while carrying small to large loads.
• Maintain a safe work area by sweeping and cleaning as needed.
• Able to properly clean both the shredder and grinder following all safety protocols.
• Maintain the cleanness of all forklifts.
• Identify and report any unsafe work conditions, behaviors, or incidents.
• Follow and adhere to all safety procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.

Education, Experience, & Skills:

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Able to pass a forklift driving certification test and operate a forklift safely is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability.
• Basic computer skills required, including the use of Microsoft Office, PC application, and the ability to work with different applications on different formats.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend basic English is essential for understanding various forms of work directions, shop orders, and safety instructions.
• This position requires the ability to communicate, both verbally and written, in a professional, positive, and constructive manner.
• Must be detail oriented and demonstrate both team-based and independent work skills.
• Strong organization, time management, multitasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret weight measurements on a scale as well as dimension measurements using fractions, decimals, or metric increments.
• Must possess basic mathematic skills including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in order to obtain reliable finished part counts.
• Ability to read an amp meter.
• Visual acuity to distinguish between materials.
