Job summary

IAC Group in Arlington, TX is seeking a Material Handler to segregate scrap, compact cardboard and plastic, and support recycling operations. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance, and working six days a week in a noisy industrial environment.

Responsibilities include operating forklift, sorting by resin type, maintaining 5S standards, and coordinating with the Scrap Coordinator. Training and cross-training are integral to the team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 6 months of material handling experience in manufacturing or recycling.
  • Ability to work extra hours or shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Cross-training and job rotation are required.

  • Compact cardboard and plastic as required.
  • Segregate parts by resin type.
  • Regrind material based on resin classification.
  • Remove clips or non-recyclable components.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S.
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack to move materials.
  • Audit scrap bins against scrap records.
  • Follow instructions from Scrap Coordinator.
  • Provide general support for area needs.

Job description

Objective:

To carry out segregation, compaction, and handling of scrap and recyclable materials (cardboard, plastic, etc.) while ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining a clean and organized work area, contributing to the efficiency of the recycling process.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Experience: 6 months in material handling in a manufacturing environment or industrial recycling.
  • Ability to work extra hours or shifts based on customer production requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Cross-training and job rotation are vital to our operations and are required of all team members.
  • Must be available to work 6 days a week.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • Forklift operation.
  • Basic use of compactors / balers.
  • LOTO
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Compact cardboard and plastic as required.
  • Segregate parts and runners according to resin type.
  • Regrind material based on resin classification.
  • Remove clips or non-recyclable components from materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S methodology.
  • Perform periodic cleaning of the grinder.
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack as needed to move materials.
  • Organize materials inside trailer boxes.
  • Audit scrap bins to validate information according to scrap records.
  • Follow instructions from the Scrap Coordinator.
  • Provide general support for area needs.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment:
  • Industrial setting with moderate exposure to noise and dust. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • Physical Demands:
  • This is primarily a standing position, requiring periods of 8 – 12 hours per day of standing and physical activity throughout the shift.
  • Able to lift up to 15lbs on a frequent basis, and up to 50lbs with assistance.
