Job summary

Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans (MPI) seeks a Director of Residuals to lead residual operations, reporting, audits, collections, and system implementation. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; degree in finance, accounting, business administration, entertainment / media, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of related industry experience, preferably with significant experience in residuals.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to manage, coach, develop, and hold staff accountable.
• Understanding of Guild Collective Bargaining Agreements, residual reporting requirements, compliance obligations, and related operational processes.
• Strong expertise in contract interpretation, with experience residual calculations and audits a plus.
• Experience supporting or leading system implementations, conversions, upgrades, workflow redesigns, automation initiatives, reporting enhancements, or post-implementation stabilization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee residual operations from contribution allocation through processing, reporting, collection, aging analysis, and auditing.
• Ensure residual contribution allocations between Plan entities are accurate and timely, consistent with applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and actuarial projection funding requirements.
• Analyze agreements and contracts to support accurate residual calculations, compliance, and reporting treatment.
• Coordinate residual audits of studios, streamers, and distribution companies with the third-party audit firm, including audit announcements, planning, status tracking, and follow up.
• Proactively lead discussions with the third-party audit firm and applicable studios, streamers, and distribution companies to resolve findings, collect amounts due, and confirm appropriate calculations for future reporting.
• Oversee recurring residuals reporting, including monthly audit receivables and aging reports, residual funding reports, periodic statistical reports, and other reporting needed to support operations, financial oversight, and decision-making.
• Analyze residuals collections, audit receivables, aging, variances, trends, and issues to identify risks, drive follow-up, support timely resolution, and improve collection outcomes.
• Provide residuals-related financial reporting and analytics to support Accounting, actuarial projections, collective bargaining negotiations, forecasting, and other financial planning or oversight needs.
• Translate residuals data into clear, actionable summaries and presentations for executive leadership, the Audit & Collections Committee, and the Board, highlighting collections activity, audit status, aging trends, financial impact, key risks, unresolved issues, and recommended next steps.
