Job summary

Paragon Social Care is seeking a dedicated Children’s Residential Support Worker in Crook, County Durham. This full-time role involves supporting children and young people who may have experienced trauma, providing emotional support and stable care in a residential home.

You will work weekends and bank holidays, with sleep-ins and on-call shifts as part of a committed care team. The role offers training, development and the chance to make a tangible difference in a child’s life.

Qualifications

• Experience in children's residential care is preferred.
• Experience working with children or young people is important.
• Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and child welfare practices.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
• Provide emotional support, reassurance and positive role modelling.
• Create a safe, warm and nurturing home environment.
• Build trusting relationships based on respect, patience and consistency.
• Encourage positive behaviour while maintaining boundaries.
• Carry out welfare checks and follow care plans and risk assessments.
• Respond calmly to incidents and safeguarding concerns.
• Support routines and the daily rhythm of family life within the home.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and handovers.
• Complete safety, security and fire checks.
• Work with colleagues, families and external professionals.
• Follow care plans, safeguarding procedures and organisational policies.
