Job summary

Republic Services is hiring a Driver Helper in Chicopee, MA to ride along with a Driver on residential routes and assist with prompt waste removal. You will help load waste, direct the Driver from the ground, and keep the vehicle and work area clean.

The role focuses on safe loading, customer courtesy, and supporting efficient route service while adhering to safety guidelines and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate packing mechanism and levers to activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck.
• Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle; report safety issues.
• Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers and others to ensure routes are serviced timely and professionally.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to safety standards and policies.
• Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure timely service.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
