Job summary

A community support organization in Davenport is seeking a Residential Trainer responsible for training, onboarding, and personal care for individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a B.A. in a human services field is preferred, plus at least one year of relevant experience. Benefits include health insurance, PTO, and a retirement plan. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance, and maintain a good driving record.
• Minimum of one year experience in the field of developmental disabilities.
• Ability to meet employment requirements including health screening and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Act in a supervisory capacity and assist with performance reviews.
• Conduct orientation and onboarding of new staff.
• Provide personal care to individuals as needed.
• Assist individuals in achieving everyday living skills.
• Provide transportation when required.

Job description

Starting wage is $19.00/hr

As a Residential Trainer, you will be responsible for the development of training, orientation and onboarding accordance with Empowering Abilities philosophy and culture, policies, and procedures. Position is also responsible for personal care of individuals when needed.

Schedule: 2‑week rotating schedule.

Week 1:
Sunday - 8am-4:30pm
Monday - 11am-7:30pm
Tuesday - 11am-7:30pm
Wednesday - 11am-7:30pm
Thursday - 11am-7:30pm
Friday - OFF
Saturday - OFF

Week 2:
Sunday - OFF
Monday - 11am-7:30pm
Tuesday - 11am-7:30pm
Wednesday - 11am-7:30pm
Thursday - 11am-7:30pm
Friday - 11am-7:30pm
Saturday - OFF

Essential Job responsibilities:

• Act in a supervisory capacity (assist with performance expectation reviews, staff development, scheduling)
• Orientation and onboarding of new staff
• Knowledge of individuals’ condition, needs, and whereabouts
• Provide personal care and helping people achieve everyday living skills
• Provide transportation when needed
• On‑call duties

Qualifications include:

• Possess current and valid driver’s license and auto insurance, and maintain a good driving record. Must be willing to drive own vehicle and be reimbursed for mileage
• High School diploma or GED required
• B.A. in human services field, preferred
• Minimum of one year experience in the field of developmental disabilities
• Ability to meet employment requirements (i.e. health screening, driving record, TB test)
