Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern Rockies in Sheridan, WY is seeking a Residential Technician to support Veterans in a transitional housing program. You will help ensure safety, security, and smooth daily operations within the facility.

The role requires vigilance, strong communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Evening shifts and the potential for full-time or part-time employment are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• One year of residential setting experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Ensures security and operational control of the facility.
• Monitors resident and visitor activity inside and outside the facility.
• Monitors for contraband through observations and searches of the facility, residents and vehicles.
• Performs drug testing to monitor resident alcohol and drug use.
• Assigns and monitors resident work and extra-duty tasks to keep facility clean.
• Assists residents with short-term coping mechanisms and problem-solving.
• Provides or coordinates transportation for residents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Details: Job Location: Freedom Hall - Sheridan, WY 82801. Position Type: Full-time. Education Level: HS Equivalent/GED. Travel Percentage: Up to 25%. Job Shift: Evening.

Summary/Objective

The Residential Technician is responsible for supporting the needs of Veterans in the transitional residential housing program. This position ensures the safety and security of the residents and facility.

Essential Functions

• Ensures the security and operational control of the facility
• Monitors and documents resident and visitor activity both inside and outside the facility
• Monitors the existence of contraband in the facility through general observation and searches of the facility, residents, and vehicles
• Performs drug testing to monitor resident alcohol and drug use
• Assigns and monitors resident work and extra‑duty assignments to ensure facility cleanliness
• Assists residents with short‑term coping mechanisms and problem‑solving
• Provides or helps residents obtain transportation
• Other duties as assigned

This job operates in a residential facility environment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, has close vision, and must adjust focus. The job also requires lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and bending or stooping as necessary. The monitor is expected to stay awake overnight.

This is a part‑time or full‑time position depending on the needs of the program.

Little to no travel is expected for this position.
