Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Residential Support Staff for its Women’s Way program in East Honolulu, Hawaii. This role provides operational support for the residential cottage under supervision, ensuring a safe, healing environment for women and their children.

Responsibilities include supervising activities, coordinating with counselors and nurses, documenting care, and maintaining safety and hygiene standards.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with one year experience in human services field.
  • Valid Hawaii State driver license required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all milieu activities and uphold client safety and treatment guidelines.
  • Work with the counseling team to ensure consistency in interventions with clients.
  • Model and coach assertive, respectful communication and conflict resolution.
  • Monitor medications and complete medication administration documentation.
  • Conduct drug screenings as scheduled.
  • Provide transportation for residents as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and charts, logs and client service hours.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings, including medication administration training.
  • Participate in shift change conferences and communicate protocol changes.
  • For night shifts, ensure data collection of client contact hours and charts.
  • Familiar with telecommunication platforms (Zoom, iPad, MS Teams).
  • Maintain inventory of household equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Keep work areas and staff restrooms neat and sanitary.
  • Follow agency procedures for Emergency Response Codes and drills.

Family Treatment Services provides a puuhonua designed for women and children on their journey toward living a life free of substance use and violence. We provide gender responsive residential and outpatient treatment, infant mental health and family services and supportive housing that helps women create healthy, supportive relationships in their lives and set them on the path toward achieving their self-directed goals.

We are looking for a Residential Support Staff who will join our Women\'s Way treatment program. This is a rewarding position that requires a strong understanding of the impact of substance use on women and the significance of relationships, safety, mental health and self-esteem as part of their healing. This position provides operational support for the residential cottage under the guidance of the Support Services Supervisor and Lead Support Staff and coordination with the Treatment Services Supervisor, Registered Nurse and Substance Abuse Counselors, all acting as one team to establish a safe, healing environment for women and their children.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise all milieu activities and uphold all client safety and treatment guidelines, including healthy room checks, monitor phone calls and visitations, contraband searches for incoming items, nighttime room and chore checks.
  • Work with the counseling team to ensure consistency in interventions with clients.
  • Model, coach and encourage assertive, respectful communication, conflict resolution, positive parenting interactions and de-escalation techniques.
  • Monitor self-administered medications and complete medication administration documentation.
  • Conduct drug screenings as scheduled.
  • Provide transportation for residents as assigned.
  • Ensure that all client and program related documents are properly and securely filed before shift ends.
  • Attend staff meetings and agency trainings, including medication administration training.
  • Complete assigned documentation duties such as shift logs and logging client service hours.
  • Participate in shift change conferences and timely communication with supervisor for any changes in protocols or attendance.
  • For night shifts: accurate and consistent attention to data collection of clients contact hours, program charts and binders that require rotation, archiving, replacing or shredding, printing client certificates and chart reviews.
  • Knowledgeable with telecommunication platforms (i.e., Zoom, hotspots, iPad, Microsoft Teams).
  • Maintain accurate up to date inventory of all household equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Maintain work area and staff restroom in a neat, orderly, and sanitary manner.
  • Follow specified agency procedures required for the appropriate handling of all Emergency Response Codes, including running monthly fire drills and documentation.
