Job summary

Easterseals Southern California seeks compassionate staff to assist adults with developmental disabilities in licensed residential homes. You will support daily living activities, plan outings, and help residents gain independence.

Responsibilities include personal care, meal assistance, medication monitoring, documentation, and transport to appointments. Requires CPR/CPI/First Aid and DSP-I/II certs within first year.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of training, education and experience to perform the job successfully.
• 1-year minimum experience in a licensed residential setting working with medical fragile adults with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral issues.
• Familiarity with charting, medication administration, and positive behavior support.
• Working knowledge of behavioral issues, including aggressive, non-verbal and self-injury behaviors.
• Working knowledge and understanding of IPP and ISP.
• Working knowledge of Regional Center, Department of Developmental Services, Title 17 and 22.
• Ability to communicate well orally and in writing; ability to interpret and carry out written and/or oral instructions.
• Able to work in indoor and outdoor settings; arrange and participate in outdoor activities with residents of the residential home.
• Ability to pass post-offer medical examination and test for tuberculosis.
• Able to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from DOJ/FBI per program requirements.
• If applicable, possess and maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards and CA driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care for residents including eating, hygiene, showering, restroom assistance, and bedtime prep.
• Assist with meals and G-tube feeding as needed.
• Administer and monitor medications.
• Maintain and clean the residential home, including laundry.
• Conduct daily activities to develop residents’ living skills per IPP/ISP; provide engaged activities.
• Complete daily reports and attend staff meetings; complete trainings.
• Transport residents to health appointments and activities using a company vehicle.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
