Job summary

Chesterfield County's Mental Health Support Services is seeking a full-time Residential Counselor to provide direct supports, supportive counseling, and skills training to adults with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting.

You will work in group homes and similar settings, helping residents with daily living, safety, and community integration, while maintaining accurate documentation in an electronic health record and complying with safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a human services field such as psychology, sociology, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field.
• One year of experience in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Two years of related experience in development disabilities preferred; related experience in a group home setting preferred.
• Medication Administration certification preferred; CPR & First Aid preferred; experience using an electronic health record preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supports to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in group home settings.
• Supports living options including supported living and self-directed services.
• Assists with activities of daily living and medication administration.
• Maintains consumer files and ensures compliance with requirements.
• Documents casework using an electronic health record.
• Participates in on-call rotation for emergencies.
