Job summary

Helping Hand in Hodgkins, IL is seeking a compassionate Residential Supervisor to lead daily operations across our residential programs and mentor a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). The role focuses on safety, dignity, and independence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and requires active coaching and supervision of staff.

The position offers full-time hours, a 403(b) with company match, and potential for annual bonuses.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience working with the intellectual and developmental disability population.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Residential Operations
  • Oversee daily operations of assigned residential homes (CILAs)
  • Ensure individuals receive high-quality, person-centered support
  • Promote safety, dignity, and independence for those we serve
  • Support emergency response procedure and ensure program compliance
  • Coach and support your team
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and monthly supervision
  • Help foster a positive, collaborative team culture aligned with Helping Hand values
  • Coordinate care and program success
  • Manage staffing schedules and provide shift coverage as needed

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Residential Supervisor to lead daily operations within our residential programs while mentoring and supporting a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Days/hours vary based on needs of department.
  • Salary range: $24.00-$25.00/hr (hourly/non-exempt)
  • Salary based on skills and experience.
  • Up to 6% annual bonus potential.
  • 403b retirement plan with up to a 4% company match.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Lead Residential Operations

  • Monitor safety practices, documentation accuracy, and program outcomes.

Requirements
WHAT YOU BRING:
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
  • Two (2) years of experience working with the intellectual and developmental disability population.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Skill Sets:
  • Ability to fulfill all necessary training requirements of the agency, including but not limited to crisis management (crisis management training includes de-escalation strategies and physical management techniques) and DSP training within 90 days of hire, if applicable.
  • Proficient and comfortable working with technology such as Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize multiple urgencies as required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and ongoing motor vehicle insurance.
  • Must be able to meet all PACE certification requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about to assist clients, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • The person in this position may encounter clients exhibiting physical aggression; they must be comfortable working in periods of crisis and feel comfortable de-escalating individually or as a team.
  • The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Consistently position self to maintain files in file cabinets or assist clients/students.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Flexibility to work at any assigned HH site.
