Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health is seeking a Residential Specialist in Springfield, MO to support residents in a housing program. You will supervise, teach daily living skills, and implement treatment plans within a team-based setting.

The role involves crisis intervention, medication administration, and documenting progress while coordinating with nurses and clinicians to ensure quality care. A high school diploma or GED is required; CPR/First Aid and vaccination screenings apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Bachelor's or higher in Human Services preferred; relevant experience considered.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Medication Administration training required by housing program.
• Background checks including criminal history, driving record, and fingerprint checks required.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive supervision and guidance to residents while promoting independence and successful community living.
• Teach and reinforce daily living skills including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, laundry, and activity planning.
• Facilitate resident groups and encourage participation, growth, and positive behavioral change.
• Implement treatment plan interventions and incorporate therapeutic support into daily resident interactions.
• Monitor safety and security of residents, facilities, and program environments during each shift.
• Support crisis intervention and conflict resolution while maintaining a structured living environment.
• Administer, document, count, and oversee medications per procedures and training requirements.
• Communicate with nursing staff, physicians, and treatment team about residents' medical and behavioral health needs.
• Complete resident progress notes and required documentation accurately and on time.
• Attend and participate in meetings with residential staff and treatment teams.

visitor activity, and compliance with program expectations to ensure a safe community setting· Administer, document, count, and oversee medications in accordance with program procedures and training requirements, as applicable· Communicate with nursing staff, physicians, and treatment team members regarding residents' medical and behavioral health needs· Serve as a staff advisor for assigned residents and complete related treatment planning and documentation responsibilities· Complete resident progress notes, communication logs, and other required documentation accurately and within established timeframes· Attend and actively participate in meetings with residential staff, supervisors, treatment teams, and other departments as assignedEducation, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:· High school diploma or GED required· Some experience in Human Services or a related field required· Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field preferred· Associate degree in Behavioral Health Services or a related field may be considered· Must successfully complete CPR and First Aid certification requirements· Must complete Medication Administration training as required by assigned housing program· Must complete annual TB testing and physical health screenings· Must successfully pass all required background screeningsAdditional Qualifications:· Must be at least 21 years of age· Must possess a valid Missouri driver's license· Must be able to obtain a Chauffeur's Driver's License· Must maintain a current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance· Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and operating instructions· Ability to communicate effectively with residents, coworkers, family members, and community partners· Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and documentation accurately· Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships through telephone and in-person interactions· Ability to exercise sound judgment, follow direction, and work effectively under supervision· Successful completion of background checks including criminal history, driving record, abuse/neglect screenings, and fingerprint checks requiredPhysical Requirements· Perform sedentary work requiring exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible force frequently to move objects· Use hands, fingers, and arms for repetitive tasks including typing, writing, and documentation throughout the work shift· Remain seated for extended
