Job summary

Courage Connection is seeking a full-time program supervisor to oversee the Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Programs for domestic violence survivors. The role includes supervising client advocates and a children’s case manager, ensuring survivor-centered, high-quality services, and compliance with funding requirements.

The position requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to manage schedules and documentation in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility for evenings

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in social services, supervisory, administrative and team development experience.
  • Experience supervising, hiring, mentoring, and training employees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff and community partners.
  • Understanding dynamics of domestic violence and survivor-centered services.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude.

Reports to: Director of Programs

Full-time (40 hours)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide oversight and management to Courage Connection’s Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Programs for domestic violence survivors which are staffed and operated 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Provide oversight to Client Advocates and Children’s Case Manager. Ensure the programs provide survivor-centered and quality services. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, grant and funding requirements.

  • Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate staff according to funding requirements and staff development goals. Ensure focus on client advocacy and excellence in service provision and documentation.
  • Evaluate programs and services to ensure that clients’ needs and funder requirements are being met, including implementing ongoing processes for program evaluation.
  • Create and manage Client Advocate schedules.
  • Ensure all Client Advocate shifts are covered and the flexibility to cover shifts as needed.
  • Review and approve direct reports, timesheets and time off requests.
  • Responsible for the oversight and upkeep of shelter offices.
  • Ensure that eligibility and services are provided appropriately.
  • Provide direct service to clients as needed.
  • Adhere to all of Courage Connection’s documentation standards and ensure timely documentation and compliance.
  • Engage in activities to increase public awareness and education related to the issues of domestic violence.
  • Be a champion for the agency, clients and staff at all times.
  • Maintain compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Attend all meetings and complete all forms and reports required by direct supervisor, funders, Executive Director, or the Board.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate program needs including evenings and weekends.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned or as necessary to ensure organizational success.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in social services, supervisory, administrative and team development experience.
  • Experience supervising, hiring, mentoring, and training employees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with clients, staff and community partners.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and focus on providing survivor-centered services.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards and agency policies.
  • Must be able to listen and speak clearly on the telephone.
