Job summary

Earthwise - Full Water Solutions is seeking a Residential Rear Load Driver to safely operate a rear-load refuse truck on assigned residential routes. You will collect household waste, load and secure materials, and interact professionally with customers while keeping to schedules.

Responsibilities include daily vehicle inspections, maintaining logs, and adhering to DOT regulations and company safety policies.

Qualifications

• CDL class required with clean driving record.
• Experience driving a rear-load refuse collection vehicle preferred.
• Ability to perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections.
• Excellent communication with customers and team members.
• Must have at least one year of residential trash experience.

Job Description: Residential Rear Load Truck Driver

Department: Operations Reports To: Route Supervisor / Operations Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Position Summary

The Residential Rear Load Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a rear-load refuse collection truck along assigned residential routes. This position involves collecting household waste, transporting materials to designated disposal facilities, and providing professional, courteous service to customers. The driver is responsible for the safe operation and daily inspection of the vehicle, compliance with company policies and applicable regulations, and ensuring collection services are completed accurately and on schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate a rear-load refuse collection truck on assigned residential routes.
• Collect and transport household waste in accordance with established routes, schedules, and company procedures.
• Ensure waste is properly loaded and secured and that collection areas are left clean and free of debris.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs, defects, or safety concerns promptly.
• Complete required driver logs, inspection reports, route documentation, and other operational paperwork.
• Follow all applicable traffic laws, DOT regulations, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customers, coworkers, and the public.
• Communicate route delays, service issues, vehicle problems, and customer concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned vehicle.
• Assist with resolving collection issues and completing assigned routes as directed by management.
• Report accidents, injuries, property damage, spills, and unsafe conditions immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Class A or B CDL
• Acceptable driving record in accordance with company standards and applicable regulations.
• Ability to safely operate a commercial refuse collection vehicle.
• Ability to follow route instructions, written procedures, and verbal directions.
• Strong safety awareness, dependability, punctuality, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an operations team.
• ONE year of residential trash EXPERIENCE is a MUST to be considered for this position.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
• Ability to enter and exit the truck repeatedly throughout the workday.
• Ability to perform physical activities associated with residential waste collection, including walking, bending, reaching, and handling collection-related materials when necessary.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment and Schedule

Work is primarily performed outdoors and involves operating a refuse collection vehicle in residential neighborhoods, navigating traffic, and working in varying weather conditions. Early morning starts, extended workdays, and occasional overtime may be required based on route demands and operational needs.

Employees must follow all company safety policies, applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and all requirements governing the safe operation of commercial vehicles. Drivers are expected to demonstrate safe driving practices, report hazards promptly, and contribute to a safe working environment.
