Job summary

The role requires four years of appraisal experience (Bachelor's degree may substitute) and knowledge of Maryland valuation procedures, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience using appraisal-related software or computer systems to analyze property data.
• Knowledge of property inspection methods, data collection, and basic valuation techniques.
• Ability to analyze real estate data, including comparable sales and market trends.

Responsibilities

• Inspects residential real property and records technical details for updating records.
• Prepares and conducts appeal hearings to defend department estimates of value.
• Records data into the AAVS to maintain departmental records per procedures.
• Analyzes market data and applies standard appraisal techniques to value land or buildings.
• Interviews property owners to gather and verify assessment information.
• Determines current and base full cash values for new residential construction.
• Inspects new construction and records details for adding improvements to assessments.
• Provides assessment information to the public explaining valuation methods and policies.
