Job summary

State of Iowa is seeking a part-time Residential Officer for its 5th District, Department of Corrections, at a 24-hour community-based facility. The role focuses on engaging clients, fostering growth, and reducing reoffending through targeted programming.

The position starts at $22.94/hour with a shift differential and requires strong communication, safety awareness, and the ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends. Training in motivational interviewing and CBT is provided.

Qualifications

• Evenings, nights, and weekend shifts required.
• Background investigation required, including criminal history data.
• Must have or obtain a valid driver’s license.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct facility security checks and searches.
• Transport clients within the community.
• Support case managers and clients to achieve goals.
• Use behavior change techniques to promote pro-social behavior.
