Job summary

The Pavilion Behavioral Health System in Champaign, IL is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support residential treatment for youth ages 10–18. This position can be full-time or part-time with options for evening or overnight shifts, joining a dedicated treatment team.

The role focuses on supervising daily RTC programming, implementing planned activities, and ensuring safety while adhering to policies and delivering compassionate care to residents and their families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CNA preferred; Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• College students pursuing behavioral health, psychology, nursing or human services are preferred; Nursing students strongly preferred.
• One or more years of experience preferred, especially in inpatient psychiatric hospitals or residential settings.
• Experience with crisis intervention verbal and physical techniques.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day programming of RTC residents.
• Implement daily programming for residents according to posted schedule.
• Adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
• Be responsive and effective in handling psychiatric emergencies, calm residents, and manage difficult residents as needed.
• Implement interventions appropriate to the developmental needs of the patient in accordance with the treatment plan demonstrating sound professional judgment and competency.
• Provide feedback in an appropriate and professional manner to staff.
• Respond in a straightforward manner with problems and advise administration accordingly.
