Job summary

Encompass Community Services is seeking a full-time Mental Health Counselor at El Dorado Center in Santa Cruz, CA. The role focuses on supporting residents with housing, physical and mental health, and stabilization goals, while modeling positive work habits.

The counselor will supervise groups, coordinate appointments, and assist with meals and facility cleaning, all delivered with dignity and respect for each resident.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field preferred.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Valid California driver's license and clearance for agency vehicle insurance coverage.
• Fingerprinting for licensing, criminal record clearance and necessary physical exams are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services including case management, group and individual counseling, and assist clients in crisis situations.
• Establish a close working relationship with residents in the program.
• Supervise daily activities of clients, including meals, chores and recreation.
• Complete intake, assessment and evaluation paperwork with clients.
• Monitor and track clients' use of medications and conduct urine tests.
