Job summary

American Avenue is seeking a maintenance professional in New York to perform general repairs across carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work. You will assess vacated homes, create punch lists, conduct inspections, and ensure properties are secure and well-maintained.

You will handle pre-renovation tasks, conduct inspections, and document conditions using handheld devices. Opportunities for growth and a focus on safe, comfortable homes drive this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs, including Carpentry, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical work.

• Conduct property inspections, secure homes, and complete vacancy/wellness checks.
• Handle minor pre-renovation repairs, utility inspections, and basic troubleshooting.
• Cosmetic Refurbishment - patch drywall, painting, replace LVP flooring, and deep cleaning
• Maintain and document property conditions using handheld technology (e.g., iPad, iPhone).

Job description

As a PE, you’ll play a key role in ensuring tenant satisfaction by inspecting, repairing, and maintaining homes. You’ll proactively identify and address issues, setting the standard for our relationship with tenants through excellent service and communication.

• Perform general maintenance and repairs, including Carpentry, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical work.
• Evaluate vacated homes to create a punch list of necessary repairs, replacements and cleaning tasks.
• Conduct property inspections, secure homes, and complete vacancy/wellness checks.

• Tools and Transportation: Must own tools and have a truck or van.
• Licensing & Location: Valid driver’s license required; reside within reasonable proximity.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
• Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using handheld devices for work orders and updates.
• Code Knowledge: Familiar with building codes, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
