Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) seeks a Residential Instructor for the Deaf and Blind Boarding program. You will supervise students, document daily activities, and support social and daily living skills within the dorm setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A high school diploma or its equivalent; or Completion of a program of study in child care from a vocational/technical school; or one year of experience in working with disabled persons. Proof of High School Diploma or Completion of Child Care course will need to be provided at time of interview.
Preferred: Two or more years of professional full‑time work experience.
Applicants who are selected for hire for the afternoon shift in the Deaf Apartment Program Dorms/Deaf Residential Dorms will be required to attain an Intermediate Plus proficiency in sign language within one year of hire.
Applicants who are selected for hire for the overnight shift in the Deaf Apartment Program Dorms/Deaf Residential Dorms will be required to attain an Intermediate proficiency in sign language within one year of hire.
Applicants who are selected for hire in the Apartment Program Dorms (who are working with Blind/Visually Impaired students) will be required to attain Survival Plus proficiency in sign language within one year of hire.
Applicants who are selected for hire in the Blind Residential Program will be encouraged to learn sign language. The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind provides education to acquire sign language skills.
$29,874.00 – $37,374.00 annually. Position is eligible for a shift differential due to the majority of shift being between 5:00pm – 6:00am. $60.00 per biweekly period; $1,560.00 annually. Pay additive is dependent on agency funding.
Afternoon Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 3:15pm – 12:15am; Schedule may vary.
Overnight Shift: Monday – Friday, 12:15am – 8:15am;
FSDB provides staff members with opportunities to grow professionally, enhancing their ability to support students’ growth. School‑ and state‑required training and skills development is offered both online and in‑person for academic and non‑academic staff members.
