Job summary

The City of Medford seeks a skilled Residential Inspector for the Building Safety team. In this role, you will ensure construction standards compliance and conduct inspections. Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in inspection or the construction trades.
  • Possession of ICC Residential Building Inspector Certification or Oregon Residential Structural/Mechanical Inspector within six months.
  • Experience in prior construction, inspection, and plan review is preferred.

Required Education and Experience:

*Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
*Three (3) years of experience in inspection or the construction trades with working knowledge of the Oregon Residential Codes; and
*Possession of at least one of the following certifications within six (6) months of hire:ICC Residential *Building Inspector Certification (B1) or
*Oregon Residential Structural/Mechanical Inspector (CAS); and
*Obtainment of the following certifications within one year of hire:Residential Plans Examiner (CAX)
*Residential Plumbing Inspector (CAP)

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior construction, inspection, and plan review experience.

Available Schedule:

*Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Compensation & Information on Benefits:
This position is part of theAFSCMEemployee group.

Effective July 1, 2025, the salary schedule shall be increased by a 2.0% salary adjustment,
plus a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA).

Certification Pay Differential:

This position may be eligible for additional pay based on certifications. Employees who obtain the following certifications may receive a5% pay differential per certification, up to a maximum of 10% additional pay:

*CAE (Residential Electrical Inspector)
*CAP (Residential Plumbing Inspector)
*MIA (Mechanical Inspector A-Level)
*PEF (Fire and Life Safety Plans Examiner)
*SIA (Structural/Mechanical Inspector)

The anticipated hiring range for the Residential Inspectorposition is $31.37(first step) to $32.94or $34.59(second or third step).The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, andqualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.
