• Authority to hire, train and assign personnel; recommend promotions and terminations.
• Develop systems for maximizing the effectiveness of the housekeeping and laundry functions.
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly environmental services inspections with the Administrator.
• Oversee purchases of cleaning and laundry supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
• Maintain required records and reports per department policies.
• Ensure cleaning and laundry equipment is used safely and kept in safe condition.
• Safeguard equipment and chemicals to ensure safety of residents, guests and staff.
• Adhere to environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Participate in disaster planning including fire drills and staff training.
• Operate environmental services equipment such as vacuums and floor cleaners.

Job description

Long-term Healthcare Facility -

The Residential Housekeeping Manager is responsible for efficiently managing the facility’s housekeeping and laundry operations and the Housekeeping Staff. The primary function of this position is to ensure nursing home residents enjoy a clean and orderly living environment.

Authority to make administrative decisions regarding the hiring, training and assignment of personnel, recommending employee promotions and terminations.

Develops systems and programs for maximizing the effectiveness of the housekeeping and laundry functions.

Performs regular daily, weekly, and monthly environmental services inspections with the

Administrator to ensure the facility is maintained in a safe and sanitary manner according to facility policy.

Oversees the purchases of cleaning and laundry supplies, chemicals, paper products, and departmental equipment as needed to meet department demands.

Maintains required records and reports as outlined in the policies and procedures of the Residential Housekeeping Department.

Ensures that all cleaning and laundry equipment is correctly and safely used and kept in a safe condition.

Ensures that all equipment and chemicals are properly safeguarded to ensure the safety of residents, guests, and fellow staff members.

Adheres to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.

Participates in facility disaster planning efforts including, ensuring staff participation in regular fire drills as required by state statute, maintaining emergency supplies, and performing all staff training.

Operates environmental services equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor cleaners, buffers,

shampooers, etc.).
