Job summary

Alluregalesburg is seeking a dedicated housekeeper and laundry aide to maintain clean resident areas and ensure an adequate supply of linen. You will follow directions from the Director of Housekeeping and work to keep rooms, hallways and laundry areas sanitized and organized.

Responsibilities include cleaning, linen handling, complying with infection prevention procedures, and assisting in emergencies. Prior experience in long-term care preferred; strong English communication required.

SUMMARY:

The housekeeper and laundry aide responsibilities are to perform the day-to-day activities of housekeeping and the laundry department as directed by the Director of Housekeeping to assure the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable manner and an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, mealtimes, and end of the workday.
• Perform cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection prevention and control procedures.
• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, break rooms and other work areas to ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and facility policies.
• Clean and disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides or sterilization procedures as directed.
• Monitor environment for potential hazards in the course of performing routine housekeeping tasks.
• Prioritize housekeeping requests involving safety issues and/or time sensitive projects including pre-arrival room checks for new admissions, spilled beverages, etc.
• Clean vacant rooms as assigned, document cleaning and sanitation services per facility policies.
• Ensure proper disposal of infectious waste(s) into appropriate containers as required by state/federal regulations and the facility infection prevention plan.
• Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner; service routinely and when necessary to keep containers from oerflowing.
• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
• Label or mark personal articles of clothing (blankets, sweaters, etc.) for laundry with identifying information including name, barcode or reference number as appropriate.
• Coordinate daily laundry service with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
• Collect, sort and weigh soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas; maintain sanitary conditions providing separation between clean and dirty items.
• During emergency conditions, assure that clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., are distributed to designated areas as instructed.Fold, count, stack, hang and distribute clean laundry, linen, garments, to residents daily and/or as instructed.
• Assist in search for missing articles of clothing or personal items of residents and report findings.
• Ensure that an adequate supply of laundry/linen supplies is maintained in laundry/linen closets to meet the daily needs of the residents; replace worn items in accordance with facility policies and protocols.
• Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Experience in Long Term Care or Assisted Living industry, preferred.
