Job summary

University of Arizona is seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic at the Tucson Campus to maintain and repair university dorms, apartments, and related building systems. Duties include driving campus vehicles and collaborating with Residence Life staff to address work requests.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3+ years of experience, and a valid driver’s license; it is a full-time, hourly position with benefits and a wage range of $20.33–$25.41 per hour.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and residents.
• Knowledge of cleaning and repair of heating/cooling fan coil units.
• Knowledge and skill in applying building and equipment maintenance/repair techniques.

Responsibilities

• Repair, replace and install building items (doors, fixtures, plumbing, lighting) for dorms and apartments.
• Perform general painting, plumbing and carpentry repairs.
• Repair HVAC fan coils and related components.
• Conduct inspections of security lights, doors and fire extinguishers.
• Communicate status of work requests to staff and residents.
• Maintain inventory of tools and equipment.
• Lead work of assigned staff or students.
