Job summary

Palmetto Residential Electric is seeking a skilled Residential Electrician to join our Virginia-based team in New Kent/Providence Forge. This full-time role involves completing new construction residential installs, warranty work, and ensuring code-compliant, safe wiring.

Candidates should have 2-3 years of residential experience, be reliable, able to travel as needed within Palmetto sites, and pass background and drug tests.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience with residential work.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Organization and time management skills.
• Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated.
• Occasionally travel to other Palmetto sites.
• Possibly required to work overtime.
• Must be physically able to perform maintenance tasks including climbing ladders, confined spaces, and lifting up to 75 lb.
• Drug test and background check clearance required.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Completes new construction residential installs and warranty work.
• Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste and ensure access for maintenance.
• Prepares sketches or follows diagrams/blueprints for wiring installations.
• Splices wires and connects wiring to fixtures and equipment.
• Tests circuit continuity for safety and compatibility with instruments.
• Observes operation to detect hazards and determine adjustments or replacements.
• Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Your Mission:

• Completes new construction residential installs and warranty work
• Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
• Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
• Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
• Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
• Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
• Other duties may be assigned.
