Job description

Join a Team That Powers Careers and Communities

For over 40 years, Tribble Electric has been more than a trusted contractor — we’re a team dedicated to helping our people and our communities grow. We take pride in being Richmond’s premier electrical contractor for residential construction, multi-family and commercial developments, known for our innovations, reliability, and breadth on every project.

We invest in our team through 100% reimbursement for training and certifications, clear career paths, and a strong commitment to promoting from within. Whether you’re starting out or advancing your career, Tribble Electric provides the foundation for long-term success.

Since 1983, we’ve built our reputation on delivering dependable electrical solutions for businesses, homeowners, and builders across the region. At Tribble Electric, you’ll join a company that values your skills, supports your growth, and is committed to excellence in everything we do.

Who You Are:

Tribble Electric is seeking an experienced Department Manager to lead our Residential New Construction Department. This role is responsible for the overall performance and growth of the residential business, including financial results, operations, safety, quality, team development, and customer relationships. The Residential Department Manager will build strong relationships with builders and developers, identify and pursue new business opportunities, and ensure the department is positioned to grow profitably while delivering the quality and reliability customers expect from Tribble Electric.

What You’ll Do:
  • Own the profit and loss performance of the Residential unit, including revenue, gross profit, and overhead.
  • Build and hold builder and developer relationships directly, and bring qualified work in rather than waiting for it.
  • Own the pricing model for residential work, including per unit and per plan pricing, escalation, and option pricing.
  • Drive job density and neighborhood concentration as a deliberate margin strategy.
  • Build and own the unit’s annual plan and budget, and defend the assumptions behind it.
  • Review over and under billing and work in place reporting for the unit and act on variances before they become losses.
  • Own manpower planning, crew structure, and hiring for the unit, including apprentice pipeline and strategic hiring ahead of growth.
  • Set the standards for how residential work is estimated, released, executed, inspected, and closed.
  • Own rough in and trim scheduling reliability so the unit holds its slots in builder schedules.
  • Manage warranty, punch, and callback performance as a cost and a relationship issue.
  • Partner with the Director of Strategic Engagement on pricing strategy, market positioning, and pursuit selection.
  • Drive safety performance and enforce Tribble Electric’s safety program throughout the unit with no exceptions.
  • Ensure the unit uses BuildOps and Tribble Electric’s tracking documents consistently so reporting reflects reality.
  • Represent the unit at the leadership table with honest numbers, a clear plan, and a point of view.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Ten or more years in residential electrical construction, including several years leading teams and carrying financial responsibility for a book of business.
  • Demonstrated business development capability, with existing builder or developer relationships in the Richmond market or the proven ability to build them quickly.
  • Deep understanding of residential production economics, including per unit pricing, crew productivity, density, and warranty cost.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a profit and loss statement, including the ability to read a work in place report and explain a variance without help.
  • Track record of developing people and building an apprentice and field leadership pipeline.
  • Comfort operating from data, including budget versus actual, job cost, labor productivity, and pipeline.
  • Demonstrate and uphold all the core values of Tribble Electric, which include integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation and growth.
What We Offer:

Tribble Electric offers a wide range of employee benefits, including:

  • 100% employer-paid health coverage options through United Healthcare
  • 401(k) with 100% company match up to 4%, with Roth and Traditional options
  • Generous pay scale and company vehicle provided for eligible positions
  • Paid time off starting day one
  • Tuition reimbursement and paid apprenticeship programs
  • Career advancement pathways and leadership development opportunities
  • Dental, vision, and FSA plans
  • Company-paid short- and long-term disability insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for personal and family support
  • Scholarship opportunities for employees and dependents
  • Employee discounts on Woodfin services
  • A family-oriented, team-first culture that values work/life balance
