Job summary

GFL Environmental in High Point, NC, is hiring a Residential Commercial Driver (CDL) to serve local neighborhoods.

You will operate residential collection vehicles, safely collecting waste, recyclables and yard waste while representing GFL with residents. A CDL (A or B) with a clean record and 1+ years of driving experience, or a CDL certificate, is required. Local daytime hours, home nightly on a stable route.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B with a clean driving record.
• 1+ years of commercial driving experience OR a certificate from an accredited CDL school.
• Physical readiness for residential collection and outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate residential collection vehicles to service High Point neighborhoods.
• Collect solid waste, recyclables and yard waste per route sheets.
• Be the face of GFL with courteous, professional resident interactions.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure road readiness.
• Coordinate with helpers, mechanics and supervisors to keep routes running smoothly.

What You'll Do

• Master Neighborhood Routes: Safely operate residential collection vehicles (side-loaders, rear-loaders, and automated trucks) to service neighborhoods across High Point.
• Keep Communities Green: Efficiently collect solid waste, recyclables, and yard waste according to daily route sheets.
• Be the Face of GFL: Provide courteous, professional service to residents and uphold route quality standards.
• Prioritize Safety: Perform required daily pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure your vehicle is safe and road-ready.
• Work as a Team: Coordinate closely with helpers, mechanics, and supervisors to keep your route running smoothly and safely.

What We're Looking For

• Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Experience: 1+ years of commercial driving experience OR a certificate from an accredited CDL school.
• Physical Readiness: Ability to maneuver in and out of the cab, handle outdoor conditions, and manage physical aspects of residential collection.
• Safety First Mindset: Strong commitment to local traffic laws, company safety procedures, and defensive driving.
• Customer Service Attitude: Professional demeanor with a positive, helpful attitude when interacting with local residents.

Primary Location: High Point, NC (Local residential routes, full-time hours, daytime schedule)
