Job summary

LRS is hiring a Residential Driver in Chicago to service routes, haul waste or recycling, and ensure curbside receptacles are returned neatly. You will operate the truck safely, interact with customers, and maintain route documentation.

The role requires a valid Class B CDL, a DOT medical card, and the ability to read and speak English well for safety training and communications. Competitive hourly pay applies plus benefits where offered.

Responsibilities

  • Operate truck in a safe manner and comply with regulations and company policies.
  • Provide waste or recycling removal services on assigned routes by emptying receptacles into the truck.
  • Replace receptacles neatly at curb or designated area.
  • Clean up waste spills and overflows.
  • Maintain and update route sheets and driver logs.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
  • Interact professionally with customers and internal teams.
  • Handle waste from the packer blade and truck body.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Be Accountable, The Residential Driver is responsible for servicing assigned route(s) with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. The Residential Driver is exposed to extreme weather conditions and unpleasant odors and sights. The hours and physical demands may vary by route or area.
Reports To

Operations Supervisor

  • Operate truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Provide waste or recycling removal services to customers on assigned route(s) by emptying trash/recycling receptacles into truck and hauling to disposal site.
  • Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area.
  • Clean up waste spills and overflows.
  • Maintain and update route sheets.
  • Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs.
  • Maintain and update drivers log sheets.
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid Class B CDL, at least.
  • Must have a valid DOT medical card or obtain prior to hire.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while outside of the vehicle.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
