Job summary

LRS is a leading waste and recycling solutions provider in the United States. Join our team to operate heavy-duty trucks, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and deliver reliable curbside pickup across New Jersey.

This role emphasizes safety, adherence to DOT rules, and collaboration with Route Managers to improve route efficiency. You will ensure containers are returned clean, communicate service needs, and represent LRS with integrity and accountability.

Qualifications

• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Must have Class B CDL.
• Must have DOT medical card or obtain before hire.
• No DUI/OVI within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
• No license suspensions within the last 2 years.
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
• Must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle in accordance with safety rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and local laws.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle and document checks.
• Immediately report unsafe situations or service-related issues.
• Attend and participate in scheduled training programs and meetings.
• Work with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and share best practices.
• Notify Route Manager of incidents, service interruptions, or hazards.
• Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
• Identify and report containers in need of repair or replacement.
• Ensure containers on route reconcile with service levels and are left clean.
• Complete customer tickets when excessive yardage must be removed.
• Position and return containers on customer properties with lids secured.
• Ensure doors are closed and containers do not block driveways or traffic.
• Follow route assignments and complete end-of-day documentation.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Be Accountable, The Commercial Drivers are responsible for operating heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachment. Drivers are responsible for providing the pickup service of containers filled with waste or recyclable materials. Containers may weigh in excess of 1000 pounds and at times require drivers to maneuver wheeled containers to a pickup stage area. Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity. This role navigates high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle in accordance with Lakeshore Waste Services safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act), and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report)
• Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch
• Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by LRS or directed by the Route Manager
• Work closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices
• Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage
• Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazards
• Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager
• Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement
• Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles to the service level listed on service list
• Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer’s location clean and free of debris
• Complete and submit customer tickets as required when excessive yardage must be removed
• Position and return containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced
• Ensure doors are closed and secured and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic
• Follow route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process
• Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs
• Perform other job duties as required
