Job summary

UCP Central PA in Hershey, PA seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for Residential Services. This entry-level role provides hands-on training to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes, fostering independence and a safe, meaningful home life.

You will support daily living activities, learn life skills, and promote community involvement while documenting progress and following individual support plans.

Qualifications

• Entry level, training provided (some positions may require experience; read schedule carefully)
• A valid driver’s license and 6 months driving experience
• 18 years of age
• Access to a vehicle with valid insurance, registration, and inspection
• Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand English

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with daily living needs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, use of adaptive equipment, and transportation to appointments and activities (training provided)
• Encourage independence, confidence, and life-skill development
• Build trusting, respectful relationships through effective communication
• Follow individualized support plans and document progress
• Assist with health and safety needs, including medication support and monitoring
• Promote meaningful activities, community involvement, and strong social connections
