Job summary

QXO is seeking a Residential Building Designer to create and coordinate design documents for single-family and light commercial projects. You will produce floor plans, elevations, and site plans using Revit, AutoCAD, and related software, collaborating with clients and internal teams.

The role emphasizes code-compliant, constructible designs with strong design sense, communication, and project coordination. Prior residential drafting experience and proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or diploma in Architectural Technology, Drafting, Construction Design, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture preferred; licensure not required.
• Approximately three years of architectural drafting or residential design experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
• Experience with remodeling, single-family housing, or light commercial design preferred.
• Experience with residential construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Create construction documents for single-family homes and light commercial projects using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate designs with clients, contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal teams.
• Ensure designs comply with IRC and applicable local codes.
• Lead client meetings and communicate options, limitations, costs, and next steps.
• Assist estimates and prepare work orders; coordinate with Estimating and Sales.
• Participate in industry events and drive design process improvements.
