Job description

Title: Residential Counselor

Position Type: Full-Time - Various shifts available!

Compensation: Above Minimum Wage (Starting pay rates)


  • New Hire Bonus: $500
  • Bilingual (Spanish) Bonus: $750

Hope For Youth is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Residential Counselors / Direct Care Staff. Our residential services programs aims to build resiliency in the youth we serve across various locations in Suffolk County. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities with flexible shifts. Include your availability when applying.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to youth, including documentation, laundry, cleaning, transportation to appointments, and supervising recreational activities.
  • Implement the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model to support and supervise residents without the need for therapeutic holds.
  • Resolve resident issues and complaints effectively.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, and training programs.
  • Perform additional tasks as required by HFY policy, oversight agency, and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License with a good standing (21 years of age or older for driving positions).
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including operating a motor vehicle, lifting/moving up to fifty pounds, escorting children and youth in the community, and physically restraining a child or youth during crisis situations.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and locations.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
