Job summary

MultiCare Health System in Puyallup, WA is seeking a Residential Counselor for a part-time position to support adults in BHN residential programs. The role focuses on guiding residents toward recovery, fostering life skills, and promoting independence in daily living.

You will help create treatment and discharge plans, lead individual and group counseling, and assist residents with planning education, work, or volunteering while building community connections in a supportive setting.

Qualifications

• AA degree in social services or related field preferred.
• One year of experience working with mentally ill consumers in a residential setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• BLS - Basic Life Support (includes RQI), Food Handler’s, & First Aid cards required within 14 days of hire.
• Washington State Counselor Agency Affiliated Registered (ACCR) credential must be applied for within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides counseling to help residents re-establish self-identity and sense of purpose, including plans for work, school, or volunteering and community connections.
• Helps residents develop life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, social skills, and knowledge of symptoms and medications.
• Creates treatment plans and discharge planning documents and delivers/reviews with residents.
• Conducts individual and group counseling sessions.
