Job summary

Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI) is seeking a dedicated professional to supervise women and children in an emergency shelter setting in the Newport area. The role focuses on safety, adherence to house rules, and fostering an environment that supports residents' physical and mental well-being.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a social work-related field or significant residential/childcare experience, flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work-related field or significant residential/childcare experience required.
• Willingness and capability to work flexible hours including evenings, nights and weekends as scheduled.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues.
• The capabilities to implement appropriate child management techniques, which may include positive modeling and instruction for parents.
• Excellent communication skills needed.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, registration, inspection and driving record.
• Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision of women/children in an emergency shelter setting.
• Maintain the safety of residents and ensure house rules are followed according to the Policy & Procedures Manual.
• Provide an environment that promotes the physical and mental well-being of each resident.
