Job summary

Community Resources For Justice, Inc. in Winchendon, MA is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide direct support to adults with developmental disabilities in our group homes.

You will assist with daily living activities, monitor medications, and help residents achieve independence in a caring, structured environment. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, flexibility to work evenings/weekends, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred.
• Prior experience in residential or behavioral health settings is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations.
• Prior experience with electronic documenting and report writing.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, medication monitoring, and transportation.
• Foster a positive and respectful community environment.
• Document resident progress and incidents accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to support individualized treatment plans.
• Respond to crises and implement de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Supervise and transport clients during assigned hours; this may include job interviews, medical appointments, weekly recreation, religious services, and shopping trips.
• Support and teach clients new skills including, but not limited to, goals in the clients’ Individual Service Plan.
• Act as a positive role model for the client to support attaining the highest quality of life while maintaining safety.
• Administering medications and completing appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
