Job summary

Catholic Charities-Dept For Persons With Disabilities (DPD) in New Jersey is hiring a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor to help meet residents' personal health, safety and welfare in our group homes. You will assist with daily living activities, supervise routines, and support independence.

Responsibilities include medication administration, daily documentation, transport to programs, and participating in community activities.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Valid (non-provisional) driver’s license.
• CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures knowledge.
• Experience with ID/DD population a plus.
• Motivation to work as part of a team in residents' best interests.

Responsibilities

• Help meet personal health, safety and welfare of residents in group homes.
• Assist and/or supervise personal care activities (bathing/toileting), cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs using agency vehicles.
• Maintain daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities.
